HG Gaur Gopal Das (ISKCON) is a renowned spiritual teacher of our time and the founder of the International Society for Krsna Maitri. He was born in 1935 in the village Kailashpati, in the Bhadrapad region of Rajasthan, India.
As a child, he was very fond of studying and listening to religious lectures. He used to go to the nearby temple every day to study and listen to the lectures given by the local priest. The lectures used to be about the basic concepts of Hinduism and the teachings of the Vedic religion. He also used to go to the nearby temple to pray and get blessings from the god.
He started his career as a teacher in a school in Jodhpur in 1970. He also taught in a college in Jodhpur from 1980 to 1990.
In 1990, he moved to the United States and lived in Virginia and Maryland. He taught in a college in Virginia from 1990 to 2000.
In 2000, he moved to Australia and taught in a college in Sydney. He also taught in another college in Melbourne from 2000 to 2010.
Since 2010, he has been living in Canada and has been teaching in a college in Vancouver.
